„Resis­tance“ unter­sucht die Ambivalenz von Macht und Kontrolle.

Durch die Anord­nung von Vide­oloops und Skulp­tur entwick­elt sich eine poet­is­che Sym­bo­l­ik zwis­chen Ironie und Abgrund. 

Dabei geht es mir um den Preis, den das „Sich-Zusam­men­reißen“ und „Stark-Sein“ hat. So wird die Faust bestre­ichelt, mit Milch über­gossen, aus­gepeitscht und muss doch alles reak­tion­s­los über
sich erge­hen lassen. Zum einen ist die Faust ein uni­ver­sal ver­ständlich­es Sym­bol und kom­mu­niziert klar Emo­tio­nen wie Wut und Agression. 

Als Dro­hge­bärde ist sie ange­boren. Poli­tisch gese­hen ist sie stark mit der Arbeit­er­be­we­gung ver­bun­den, doch wird sie u.a. neben der Frauen­rechts­be­we­gung auch von ras­sis­tis­chen Organ­i­sa­tio­nen wie „White Pow­er“ als Sym­bol gebraucht. In unserem post­mod­er­nen All­t­ag find­et sie sich als Emo­ji unter allen möglichen Insta­gram-Kam­pag­nen wieder.
Obwohl als uni­verselles Sym­bol gültig, ist sie für mich per­sön­lich doch häu­fig männlich konotiert und neben der Assozi­a­tion für Wider­stand gegen Ungerechtigkeit­en auch stark mit Unter­drück­ung und männlich­er Gewalt verbunden.

Through the arrange­ment of video loops and sculp­ture, a poet­ic sym­bol­ism devel­ops between irony and the abyss.

It’s about the price of “stand­ing your ground” and “be a man.” Thus the fist is stroked, doused with milk, whipped, and yet has to endure every­thing with­out reac­tion.
On the one hand, the fist is a uni­ver­sal­ly under­stand­able sym­bol and clear­ly com­mu­ni­cates emo­tions such as anger and aggression.

As a threat­en­ing ges­ture, it is innate. Polit­i­cal­ly, it is strong­ly asso­ci­at­ed with lib­er­at­ing social move­ments such as the labor move­ment ro wom­ens right’s move­ment. But it is also used as a sym­bol by racist orga­ni­za­tions such as “White Pow­er”. In our post­mod­ern every­day life, it can be found as an emo­ji among all sorts of Insta­gram cam­paigns.
Although valid as a uni­ver­sal sym­bol, for me per­son­al­ly it is often asso­ci­at­ed with mas­cu­line­ly and, in addi­tion to the asso­ci­a­tion for resis­tance against injus­tice, also strong­ly asso­ci­at­ed with oppres­sion and male violence.
